Our TokyoTreat March edition arrived yesterday, once again super early. I love the bright, spring colours this month…if only the weather outside was really that bright!
Let’s see what is inside:
First up we have some pocky style Hello Kitty Strawberry Biscuit Sticks. These are adorable and sure to be yummy ^_^
This cute little bag contains Strawberry Wheat Chocolate, puffed wheat biscuits with a strawberry coating. They sound a bit like Rainbow Drops. Really looking forward to these 🙂
My booklet tells me these are ‘Punifua’s It’s Hard Not To Be Happy With Old-Grape Taste Gummies’. What a mouthful! These are cute little paw shaped gummies with an ‘old age flavour of grape’. I’m not sure I’ll like the flavour of these, but they’re very cute and I’m sure my son will enjoy them even if I don’t ^_^
This one is super exciting to me as I LOVE Caramel Corn! This is a limited edition bag in a two toned peach flavour that is released for Hinamatsuri (Girls Day/Dolls Day) in Japan, which is celebrated on March 3rd. I’ll be sure to eat these on the day to join in the celebrating from here in the UK!
Oh, another bag of Koikeya Scon (or Scone, as TokyoTreat spell it). We just got the sour cream and onion flavour in our Oyatsu Box (see the unboxing here), TokyoTreat have provided us a much more yummy flavour; barbeque. I’ll definitely enjoy these more than the sour cream and onion ones, it’s quite funny that we got these after I wrote about how I wished we could have them in any other flavour. Now we do 🙂
Oh man, I really don’t like the look of this one. This is Kracie’s Kneading Land Grape Soda, a DIY candy kit involving kneading colourful blocks of fondant into various shapes. For once, it’s not the grape that bugs me. It’s the fondant.
I made the Kracie’s DIY Sushi candy kit a while back and it contained a block of black fondant to make the sushi wraps. That stuff seriously sucks, it went sticky as anything, wouldn’t hold its shape at all and I spent more time scraping it off my kitchen counter and fingers than anything else. It was foul. It was horrible to work with and tasted gross. I vowed never to go near Kracie’s Fail Fondant again. So, a kit that is nothing but the fondant? I…I don’t think I can do this. Nope. Well, we’ll see. But I’m not expecting anything fun from this kit!
TokyoTreat promised a sakura flavoured snack this month, and this is it! This is a pack of Tyrol/Tirol Sakura Shiriejo, chocolates made to represent panna cotta and sakuramochi. I’ve wanted to try Tirol chocolates for ages, so to have some sakura themed ones makes me super happy ^_^
Haha, this is absolutely adorable and not something I ever thought would survive being shipped from Japan. A big bag of strawberry candy floss. Who would have thought cotton candy could survive a journey that often melts chocolate? I love candy floss so really appreciate this one 🙂
Yum, Hi-Chew Honey Kumquat! We received this a while back from Oyatsu Box, it’s absolutely heavenly. I have a post about it sitting in my drafts folder, I should really post it already. Oops. Anyway, these are amazing and taste more like honey than anything else. So happy to get more of them! 🙂
This is a pack of Bourbon Usuyaki Mix, savoury crackers flavoured with onions, tomatoes and spinach. The booklet says ‘to satiate that salty craving you have!’. I’m taking that as code for the fact that these are likely to be MSG laden snacks, as many of the Bourbon Petit range are. I’m sure they’ll be delicious though, really looking forward to trying these 🙂
This month Premium boxes included this cool sushi magnet, available in tuna, egg, salmon roe, shrimp, sea urchin, fatty tuna, and bonito and seaweed roll. We got sea urchin, which in a way is unfortunate because sea urchins scare the life out of me. This is the closest I’ll ever get to seeing a real sea urchin roll as I’d be too scared to eat one. Still, this will look adorable on our fridge. I wish I could collect the rest of the series and have an awesome sushi fridge!
You can see the rice inside the roll, these are so detailed ^_^
This was a really awesome item to include 🙂
Along with the magnet, premium boxes also got a bonus snack. The booklet shows three possibilities; Cream Collon, Bake Cookies and Cream and these Hello Kitty something or others (it only shows pictures, not names/descriptions). I’m actually really happy that we got the Hello Kitty snack as it’s the most exciting looking and although I do love Cream Collon, I like to try new things more 🙂
From the packaging I think these are Hello Kitty themed Hina Arare, which are sweet, colourful pieces of puffed rice that are a traditional Hinamatsuri food. They’re adorable and sure to be yummy ^_^
Yay, another drink! I love that TokyoTreat includes drinks, I hope they keep doing so. This is a can of Melon Cream Soda, which sounds awesome! I don’t know how carbonated it’ll be after the long journey to the UK but I’m sure it’ll be just as good even if it has gone flat 🙂
This is a box of Alfort’s Mini Blonde Chocolate, Milk Flavour. They are tiny little butter cookies with a blonde chocolate (think Caramac) coating. We tried some of these yesterday, they’re really good 🙂
I was SO excited to see a strawberry version of the Taiyaki wafer that was included in Januarys box, it was awesome and this one being strawberry…it’s going to be even more awesome! 😀
What a packed box this month, 16 items! I love the mix of sweet and savory, though it is a little heavy on the strawberry flavours this month so if you’re a subscriber, hopefully you like strawberry (I know I do)!
I also love how TokyoTreat make a point to include holiday themed snacks, we’ve had New Year, Valentines Day and now Hinamatsuri themed snacks so far this year. I hope they continue to include these ^_^
TokyoTreat just keeps getting better, thanks for another awesome box! 😀
