I wasn’t really sure if I should review this one or not; on the one hand I don’t have much to say about it (I mean it is just a chocolate filled wafer), but on the other I found it ridiculously yummy and pretty fun to boot.
So, this one is going to be more picture heavy than informative. But that’s ok 🙂
We got this wafer as part of our September Oyatsu Box, you can see what else we got here.
The packaging on this wafer is awesome. Little chibi Star Wars characters? Adorable!
Here are a few close up shots of the packaging:
It’s cute, right? I mean I get that it isn’t going to appeal to some of the more adult Star Wars fans (in fact my partner’s reaction was something along the lines of ‘oh God why…’) but still. Cute :p
Here is the wafer itself. But wait! That’s not all you’ll find inside this packet. You also get…
A super shiny awesome collectible sticker!
These stickers are apparently a key part of the Bikkuriman experience 😉
The wafer is a decent size, with the Nendoroid figure on the left measuring approx. 10cm. Which is good when you’ve got two Star Wars fans and a general snack fan all wanting to share it!
The chocolate layer inside the wafer is super thick, with the wavy line giving a really interesting texture. All the bite is in the chocolate, as the wafer is super light and airy.
Now I know I said it is just a chocolate filled wafer, and it is, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. It is actually surprisingly high quality and tastes absolutely delicious. I just mean there’s no point in me launching into a detailed tirade on the thing when I’m quite sure y’all are capable of imagining how a chocolate filled wafer tastes 😉
My little Stormtrooper definitely approved of this particular snack 🙂
Overall, I’d give this a 10/10. It isn’t very ‘out there’ as Japanese snacks go, but it is a good quality and delicious treat nonetheless and a pretty adorable take on the Star Wars branding. I’d definitely buy this again!
